Kelly Burge of the women's tennis team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, for the period ending April 2.
The senior from Woking, England was responsible for both points scored by No. 8 Flagler College in a loss at No. 4 Armstrong State University last Saturday. In singles, Burge knocked off the nation's 17th-ranked player, Tatjana Stoll, in straight sets (6-1 and 6-3). She teamed with Lizanne Jinkertz at No. 2 doubles where they defeated Stoll and Diana Stomlega, 8-6.
Burge raised her singles record for the year to 22-4 and is 14-2 this spring alone. In doubles, she and Jinkertz are 13-5 this year and 12-4 this spring.
Burge is fourth in the PBC in singles wins and leads the conference in wins (13) at No. 3. The doubles team is fourth in the PBC in winning percentage at No. 1.
She is ranked No. 13 in singles in the Southeast Region and fourth in doubles with Jinkertz.
