Vaughn McCall of the men's basketball team was selected as the Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Sleep Inn, for the month of January.

Davis was the athlete of the week during the month for the period ending Jan. 22.

McCall helped leads Flagler to a 2-1 week as he averaged 19.3 points per game and made a team-high 10 3-pointers. His 3-pointer with 13 seconds left allowed Flagler to re-take the lead (82-80) and hold on for an 83-80 victory at Clayton State, which helped Flagler snap a six-game losing streak as well as a 17-game road-losing streak. In that game, McCall was 50 percent from the floor (8-16) and from 3-point range (5-10). He scored a team-high 21 points in a loss at Augusta and added 16 points in a win over Trinity (Fla.) on Saturday.

For the month, McCall averaged a team-high 17.5 points and 1.4 steals per game. He made 40.3 percent (27-67) of his shots from 3-point range.
