Kalyn Loverich of the softball team was selected as the TraveLynx Student-Athlete of the Week, for the period ending March 23.
Loverich posted a 4-0 record in the circle last week for the Saints. She tossed a no-hitter at No. 9 University of North Georgia last Wednesday (March 19). It was the first time North Georgia had been held without a hit since March 22, 2006. Loverich pulled off another feat on Sunday. She became the first Flagler pitcher to start, complete and win both games of a doubleheader. Loverich pitched the Saints to 6-2 and 6-1 wins over the Lady Cougars.
In her four starts, she tossed 28 innings, allowed 15 hits, two earned runs, walked nine and struck out 13 batters. Loverich posted a miniscule 0.50 earned run average and held the opposition to a .146 batting average.
Loverich leads the Peach Belt Conference in games started (23) and is second in appearances (24), innings pitched (122.2) and is fifth in wins (11).
