David Cotrone of the men's tennis team was selected as the TraveLynx Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 20.
Cotrone has won both of his singles matches as well as both doubles matches, along with Gino Ramirez, to help Flagler open the 2011 season with a 2-0 record. Cotrone, ranked seventh in the nation in singles play posted a pair of victories over ranked opponents last weekend. He defeated No. 38 Gregory Andrade of USC Aiken 7-5 and 7-6 last Saturday, and then bested No. 37 Bernardo Fernandes of Augusta State 7-6 (7-5) and 6-1.
In doubles, Cotrone and Ramirez are ranked No. 10 in Division II. They opened with an 8-1 win over No. 14 Gregory Andrade/Bruno Orlandini last Saturday at USC Aiken. But the tandem received a test from No. 13 Bernardo Fernandes and Henrique Boturao, 8-6, last Sunday.
