Weigelt's Late Brace Propels Saints to Comeback Victory

COCHRAN, Ga. – The Flagler College men's soccer team (5-1-4 overall, 5-0-1 PBC) strung together a remarkable comeback at Middle Georgia (3-7-1 overall, 1-4-1 PBC) on Wednesday night behind two late goals from Finn Weigelt. The senior found the back of the net twice in the final 10 minutes to propel the Saints ahead after being held scoreless for 80 minutes of action.

SCORING SUMMARY
59' – Middle Georgia - Javier Gongora Andres (Unassisted)
81' – Flagler – Finn Weigelt (Assist Callum Stokes)
83' – Flagler – Finn Weigelt (Assist Luke Williams)

TURNING POINT
Following a scoreless opening half, Middle Georgia cracked the scoring column in the 59th minute. The Knights attack got behind the Saints backline and sent a cross through the middle of the box, which ricocheted around. The ball found Javier Gongora Andres who sent a strike to the left of the net for the early lead.

Despite a handful of opportunities, the Saints were held scoreless through 80 minutes of play. The momentum shifted, however, as the Saints counterattack broke through. Callum Stokes dribbled from midfield into the box before dumping it off to Finn Weigelt who sent a shot past the Knights goalkeeper for the equalizer.

Just two minutes later, the Saints took their first lead of the match. Luke Williams dribbled down the right side of the pitch and sent a cross into the box. Weigelt got positioned in front of the Knights defender, which led to a header into the bottom left corner of goal for the game-winner.
