ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler volleyball team hosted Edward Waters University in a non-conference match Tuesday night.
The Flagler volleyball team hosted Edward Waters University in a non-conference match Tuesday night inside the Flagler Gymnasium. The Saints extended their winning streak to 13 consecutive matches with a 3-0 sweep over the Lady Tigers, winning 25-9, 25-16, 25-13.

"We played a complete match this evening — from start to finish. I'm very pleased with a collective team effort."
Jeff Reynolds stated. "I think there were only three lead changes the entire match." Reynolds added. "We had some solid individual performances that led to a really nice team performance. We were able to control the game with our serve, as well as our serve-receive." Reynolds said. "That really opened some things up for us this evening and allowed us to distribute the ball across the net. Tonight was a nice match to help us prepare for our upcoming conference road games up north." Reynolds finished.

OPENING VOLLEY
- Marley Middlebrooks recorded her 11th double-double of the season, producing 11 kills and 15 digs. Middlebrooks posted a .500 hitting percentage and two blocks.
- Gia Lowe generated 14 kills with a season-high .650 hitting percentage while adding four digs and one block on defense.
- Sophomore Jolie Trudeau had quite a night with a new season-high 11 kills.
- Senior Katherine Rank added eight kills and posted a .467 hitting percentage, her second-highest of the season.
- Jilly Young and Bella Law continue to be a strong duo at Setter. Law reached a new season-high tonight in assists with 21 while adding two kills and a block. Young produced 25 assists with one kill and four digs.
- Hailey Trebbien made an impact from the serving line with 16 attempts and one ace. Trebbien added six more digs.
THE DIFFERENCE
- The Saints came out hot in the opening set, recording six kills and an ace to take a 7-2 lead before a Lady Tigers timeout. Flagler continued to build its advantage with an 8-1 run with five kills, an ace and a block to jump up 15-5. The Saints used a seven-point run to extend the lead 22-6. The Lady Tigers scored three more points in before the Saints shut it down with two kills and a Middlebrooks kill to win 25-9.
- Edward Waters responded with a big back-and-forth battle that eventually tied the match to 11-11. Flagler went on a 6-2 run to take a 17-13 lead. Three kills and two Lady Tigers errors to go ahead 22-15. After Edward Waters recorded one more kill, two errors and a huge block by Gracie Fleming allowed Flagler to take the second set 25-16.
- In the final set, Edward Waters tried to keep up with Flagler, but the Saints stepped on the gas. Three kills and a Lady Tigers error helped the Saints take a 10-6 lead. Flagler went on a 7-2 run to widen the lead 17-8. Edward Waters attempted to inch back with a 4-2 run, but the Saints closed the match strong with two kills, an ace and two Lady Tiger errors. A huge kill by Lowe sealed the 25-13 sweep.
NOTABLES
- The Saints scored all 25 points in the opening set with 22 kills, two aces and one block.
- "I have been around volleyball for a number of years and that is the first time I have ever seen a near perfect set. Our focus and intensity during that first set was impressive — very intentional and on-point." Reynolds commented.
- Tonight's win marks a 13-match win streak, tying the program's fifth longest win streak since the 2021 season. It is also the fourth longest active win streak in the nation.
- The Saints have now won 18 straight home matches, dating back to last season.
