Senior Connection Leads Flagler Past No. 13 North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Flagler College women's soccer team (2-3-1 overall, 2-0 conference) continued its hot start to conference play on Wednesday afternoon taking down No. 13 North Georgia (5-2 overall, 1-1 conference) by a final score of 1-0. The victory over the Nighthawks was the program's highest-ranked win since November 5, 2022.

TURNING POINT
After 36 minutes of a defensive battle, Flagler executed on its first corner kick opportunity of the game. The senior tandem of Avery Raimondo and Brooke Rienecker connected to put the Saints ahead 1-0 on the road. Raimondo sent a beautiful pass into the box and found a leaping Rienecker who put a header into the bottom left corner of the net.

The first-half goal proved to be the difference as Flagler held off North Georgia for the remainder of the game. The Saints backline shined limiting the Nighthawks to four shots on goal and earned a second straight clean sheet.

KEY STATS & NOTES

Coming off a brace last outing, Brooke Rienecker found the back of the net for the second straight game, netting the game winner.
Senior Avery Raimondo dished out her third career assist, and first of the season on the game-winner.
Irina Barron-Gomez got the start in goal and earned her second straight clean sheet. The freshman smothered four saves despite facing 14 total shots.
Sophomore Phoebe Davidson turned in her second straight multi-shot game with a team-high three shots, including one on goal.
Haley Stafford, Trinity Gray, and Keali Foster played all 90 minutes on the Saints backline. Presley Ancheta also added a complete game in the win.
Nina Lopez led the Nighthawks with four shots, including one on goal.

UP NEXT
Flagler will head back to the Peach State on Saturday, September 19^th for a PBC match against Georgia College. Kick off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Peach Belt Conference Sports Network.
