The Short Story: In the second day of the PBC-GSC Crossover, the Saints continue their win streak with a sweeping victory over Montevallo
OPENING VOLLEY
- Marley Middlebrooks takes charge once again with another double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs with her second highest season hitting percentage of .350.
- Outside Hitter Gia Lowe and Middle Blocker Katherine Rank showed out for the Saints tonight. Lowe adds nine kills with a .368 hitting percentage with a pair of blocks. Rank also made nine kills with a .400 hitting percentage, one ace and three blocks.
- Jilly Young made 23 assists with two aces and five digs.
- Senior Libero, Caity Clancy contributed to the offense with a season-high six aces.
THE DIFFERENCE
- The Saints fell behind early in the first set with a 1-5 run by the Falcons. Once Flagler tied the set at 5-5 with the help of three kills and two errors. When they were able to get ahead, they didn't look back and stayed there for a Katherine Rank kill to end the set 25-16. The Saints collected a total 14 kills with four aces and four blocks in the set.
- Flagler took no time getting ahead in the second frame after an attacking error to put them in the lead 7-6. The Saints went on a four-point run before the Flacons took a timeout, but the Saints' front row kept putting pressure on the Flacons causing 11 attacking errors with the set ending at 25-15.
- In the final set, the Saints went on a killer six point run in the start of the final frame making the score 9-2. With two kills from the Saints and three errors from the Falcons increases the score 16-4. The Saints finished the last set with an ace from Clancy to make the score 25-9.
NOTABLES
- Middlebrooks has six double-doubles on the season, with this match making it her fifth one in a row.
COMING UP
The Saints will finish the PBC-GSC Crossover tournament tomorrow against the University of Alabama-Huntsville at 1 p.m. (CT).
