SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Flagler women's soccer team (0-3-1) wrapped up its four-game road stretch to open the season at Eckerd College (3-1-1) and suffered a 3-0 loss in Saint Petersburg. The Tritons used a pair of first half goals and a late second half goal to take down the visiting Saints.

TURNING POINT
Eckerd struck first in the 12^th minute to gain an early advantage. Nell Doe attempted a cross from the right side of the box that was initially blocked by the Saints backline, but the rebound found Doe who dished a pass to Ashley Nelson at the top of the box. Nelson welcomed the pass and chipped a high shot over the Flagler goalkeeper and into the top left corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.
 
The Tritons added on to their lead just before the end of the first half in the 41^st minute. Eckerd played the ball down the right side of the pitch and Helen Scheer sent a cross into the box and found Kailani Casazza in stride as she ripped a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner of goal and extend the lead to 2-0.
 
Eckerd would add one final goal in the 81^st minute, capitalizing on a failed clear attempt by the Saints. Flagler goalkeeper Irina Barron-Gomez booted a clear from the corner towards midfield. However, the clear found Lisa Fureh who headed it forward to Ava Costa. Costa settled and ripped a deep shot at goal as Barron-Gomez raced back to net, but missed the save by a step as the Tritons took a 3-0 lead. The Tritons backline limited the Saints to four shots on the night, and two on goal to secure a 3-0 victory.

• Eckerd outshot Flagler 16-4 on the night, including 8-2 on goal.
• Seniors Brooke Rienecker and Aiyana Leslie both put a shot on goal for the Saints.
• Ava Scott and Phoebe Davidson rounded out the Saints attack with a shot.
• Haley Stafford, Presley Ancheta, Keali Foster, and Irina Barron-Gomez played all 90 minutes for Flagler.
• Nell Doe from Eckerd led all players with five shots, including two on goal.

Flagler will return home this weekend for their home opener on Saturday, September 12^th against Middle Georgia. Kick off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Saints Field in the PBC opener. Admission is free. Fans can tune into the action on the Peach Belt Conference Sports Network.
