INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – No. 1 (IWLCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College was selected to compete in the 24-team NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The first round begins on Thursday (May 7) at the Flagler Lacrosse Field in St. Augustine, Florida.
The first round game will be between No. 6-seed Young Harris College (15-5), the Conference Carolinas champion, against No. 3-seed Saint Leo University (14-4), who received an at-large berth. That game will be Thursday at 7 p.m. Flagler (19-0), the No. 2-seed in the South Region, will face the winner of that game on Saturday at 7 p.m.
General admission tickets are $5 and must be paid in cash only.
The national semifinals and finals will be played May 21-23 at Judson Stadium in Rochester, New York.
The Saints are making their fourth appearance at the national tournament. The fifth-year program won the Gulf South Conference regular and post-season titles for the fourth year in a row.
Jessica Wright leads Flagler's offensive attack with 60 goals and 37 assists, which helped her garner Gulf South Conference Attacker of the Year honors.
Ella Pinder was named the GSC Midfielder of the Year after scoring 31 goals and tallying 10 assists to go along with a team-high 65 draw controls.
Molly Sloan took home GSC Defensive Player of the Year honors as she collected 22 ground balls and had 14 caused turnovers.
Grant Kelam was selected as the GSC Coach of the Year for the fourth year in a row.
Flagler defeated Saint Leo, 18-11, on Feb. 7 at Saint Leo, Fla. Flagler triumphed over Young Harris, 19-4, on April 2, also on the road.
Holly Hill of Saint Leo was named the Sunshine State Conference's Attacker of the Year after scoring 42 goals and tallying 69 assists. Isabella Gebinine was tabbed as the SSC Freshman of the Year as she recorded a team-high 116 draw controls.
Riley Parker was selected as the Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year after she scored 62 goals and tallied 20 assists. Christine Hatton was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year.
