Eight Saints named to the IWLCA All-South Region

NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. - No. 1 Flagler College had eight athletes named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association(IWLCA) All-South Region teams yesterday afternoon, according to organization officials.

Representing Flagler was goal keeper Dakota Capolino, midfielder Ella Pinder, defender Molly Sloan and attackers Jessica Wright and Carley Tepel. Flagler's five first team selections is the most of any institution's within the region. Named to the second team was midfielder Mia Cosentino, defender Maddy Hartsock and attacker Ava Lambros.

One of the nation's premier goal keepers, Capolino received her first IWLCA honor. Currently second in the nation in save percentage with .536, Capolino was named USA Lacrosse Magazine Second-Team All-America earlier this week. The backbone of one of Division II's most successful defenses this season, Capolino has saved 112 total shots, resulting in Flagler's 6.40 goals allowed per game which ranks second in the nation.

For the second consecutive season, Pinder recieved first team honors. Fourth on the Saints in goals, points and assists, Pinder served as the go-to two-way midfielder. Scoring 32 goals and 11 assists, Pinder has 176 career points which puts her third in program history. In draw controls, the senior has a team high 68 and caused 15 turnovers. Pinder was also named a USA Lacrosse Magazine First-Team All-America earlier this week.

Sloan earned her first first-team honors after being selected to the second-team last season. Sloan is first for the Saints in ground balls with 27 and is tied for a team high 18 caused turnovers. Earlier this season, Sloan was named the Gulf South Conference Defender of the Year and USA Lacrosse Magazine First-Team All-America.

The duo of Wright and Tepel account of the nation's most prolific offense. Across all divisions, Flagler is the number one scoring offense as they average 19.15 goals a game. As a duo, the senior attackers accumulated 186 points stemming from 121 goals and 65 assists. Flagler's No. 1 goal scorer and distributor, Wright currently has 63 goals and 41 assists. Tepel is second on Flagler's stat sheet as she has scored 58 goals and 24 assists. Wright was named USA Lacrosse Magazine First-Team All-America while Tepel was named to the third team. At the conclusion of the GSC Championship, Tepel was named the tournament's MVP.

Hartsock, Lambros and Cosentino were named to the second team. Starting all 20 games, Hartsock is tied for the most caused turnovers on the team with 18. Hartsock also found 21 ground balls and won three draw controls. Lambros is currently third on the team in scoring. With 69 total points, the sophomore has scored 55 goals and found 14 assists. Cosentino is Flagler's highest scoring midfielder. Through 19 games, she has scored 36 goals and found eight assists. The Holly Springs native is second on the team in draw controls with 51 and has caused five turnovers. Lambros was named a USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-America.
