ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College junior
Aly El Rafie was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® men's tennis team, according to a release Tuesday afternoon.
This was El Rafie's second consecutive academic all-district honor.
The Cairo, Egypt native holds a 3.66 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in finance. On the court, Ong-Patzwald has an overall singles record of 17-8, which includes a 14-2 mark this spring. El Rafie is 8-1 at No. 6 singles and 5-1 at No. 5 singles. He has a 1-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents. In doubles, El Rafie is 11-9 overall and 8-8 this spring. He holds a 6-3 record at No. 1 doubles and is 4-1 when paired with
Noah Paterson. El Rafie earend first team All-Peach Belt Conference honors in doubles and was a second team pick in singles this season. He is ranked No. 73 in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for NCAA Division II. El Rafie is a two-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll scholar and earned academic all-conference honors a year ago along with receiving the D2 ADA award.
Flagler opens play in the NCAA Division II National Tournament May 20 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona.
