TEMPE, Ariz. – The Flagler College men's tennis team is ranked No. 3 according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II Coaches Poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. The Saints are ranked No. 3 in the second of the three NCAA Division II regional rankings as well.
Flagler is currently 16-3 overall and 5-1 in the Peach Belt Conference. The Saints take on Georgia College & State University in a conference tournament quarterfinal match on Friday at 6 p.m. at Columbus, Georgia.
Catawba College tops the region ranking with an 18-1 overall record and a 17-0 mark against in-region competition. Columbus State University (16-2, 15-2) follows at No. 2. The University of North Georgia (12-7, 12-5) and Wingate University (14-7, 14-7) follow Flagler at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.
There are five PBC teams, including Flagler, that are ranked in the top 50. Columbus State is ranked No. 4 and the University of North Georgia checks in at No. 15. Lander University is ranked No. 26 and Augusta University is No. 45.
The University of West Florida tops the ranking while Barry University follows in second. Saint Leo University rounds out the top five.
Ilian Borlee is ranked No. 14 in singles. He holds a 24-4 record this year and is 15-2 in the spring.
Simon Malis is ranked No. 19 with a 22-7 overall mark and is 14-4 this semester.
Aniss Rafiq checks in at No. 31 with an 8-8 record.
Raphael Rousson is ranked No. 54 and holds a 19-5 overall record this season and is 14-2 in the spring.
Aly El Rafie is No. 58 and holds a 16-7 overall record and is 13-1 this spring.
