COLUMBUS, Ga. - The No. 14 Flagler College women's tennis team dropped their conference road contest against No. 15 Columbus State University this afternoon, 5-2, at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
Dropping their first conference match, the Saints fell to 3-1 and 10-8 overall. The Cougars take sole possession of the Peach Belt Conference at the moment as they move to 12-4 and 4-0. The Saints next match will be home, against Lander University on Tuesday at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Doubles play resulted in one win for the Saints. On court two Erkya Kruk and
Lea Jakic defeated Nikoline Gullacksen and Monika Temkoa, 6-2. Singles saw a plethora of tight matches, with two Saints coming out on top.
Sofia Balsera was the only Saint to win in two sets as she defeated Sofia Lauretti 6-2 and 6-3. No. 12
Elena Ondobo took her match against Temkova in three. After taking the first set 6-2, Ondobo dropped the second 7-6(8-6) then rallied back to win the third 1-0(10-5).
