HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Back-to-back five goal periods set the Flagler College men's lacrosse team over the University of Alabama in Huntsville, 14-5, this afternoon at Charger Park.
With a nine point margin of victory, this is the largest margin of victory the Saints pulled off this season. Extending their record to 7-4 and 1-0, UAH dropped to 3-9 and 0-2. The Saints will host Lander University on Mar. 28 at 12 p.m.
The Saints dominated both sides of the field through the match. Peppering the Chargers, the Saints out shot Huntsville, 50-29.
Will Linko took the reigns at attack, scoring a match high four goals. Dempsey Gibbs also finished with a hat trick and picked up one assist. Long stick midfielder
Mekai Nelson scored his first goal as a Saint off an assist from
Trace McDonald.
Overall, the Saints won the ground balls battle, out pacing the Chargers 52-43. The Chargers finished with two quarters with 10 turnovers and finished with 32, the Saints were responsible for 16 of them.
John Kersey had a stand out game, causing three turnovers and scooping one ground balls.
Ty Scheckenbach and
Conner Delz both caused two while Sheckenbach found four ground balls. Linko and
Payton Maxwell tied for a team high five ground balls. In his 55 minutes in goal,
Jonah Smith finished with nine saves.
