ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 17 ranked Flagler College women's tennis team earned their first sweep since week one of the spring season, against Palm Beach Atlantic University this morning at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Flagler extended their win streak to four and move to 6-6 on the season. The Sailfish fell to 2-10. Flagler has a quick turnaround as they travel to No. 3 Nova Southeastern University for a 10 am match tomorrow.
Only playing on two courts in doubles, the Saints completed a full sweep.
Sofia Balsera and
Ornella Lomenzo won by walkover putting the Saints in prime position.
Lea Jakic and
Elena Ondobo clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory over Elisa Buhagiar and Sunshine Tarpey.
Eryka Kruk and
Marie Fairier completed their match after the clinch with a 6-4 finish over Virginia Borja and Valeria Lopez.
Lomenzo got her second win via walkover. Jakic and Balsera both finished their matches allowing their opponents to only win one point. Jakic defeated Tarpey 6-1 and 6-0 while Balsera defeated Daniela Ortiz 6-0 and 6-1. No. 17 Ondobo earned the fifth win of the day, defeating Lopez in two 6-1 sets. No. 12 Kruk defeated Borja 6-2 and 6-3 while Fairier defeated Buhagiar 6-4 and 6-1 to round out the match.
