ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 3 Flagler College men's tennis team bounced back with a 7-0 sweep against Palm Beach Atlantic University the afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.
The Saints reignited the win streak and advanced to 10-2. The Sailfish are still looking for their first win after dropping to 0-13. The Saints will open conference play next as they host University of North Georgia on Friday, Mar. 27 at 2 p.m.
A full sweep in doubles was ignited by
Aniss Rafiq and
Noah Paterson who defeated Matthew Young and Noah Muyale 6-1. In their first appearance,
Raphael Rousson and Jules Alies defeated Saidakbar Kamalov and Alejandro Rol Franco 6-2. After the clinch,
Simon Malis and
Ilian Borlee defeated Peter Dragar and Milan Visontai 7-5.
No. 31 Rafiq met little resistance against Visontai, taking him on court one in two 6-1 sets. No. 13 Malis followed right behind, defeating Rol Franco in two 6-2 sets. The clinching win came from court six featuring
Noah Paterson. Paterson won his first duals, singles match of his collegiate career in a 6-1, 6-2 match over Bernardo Moutinho. No. 32
Aly El Rafie added extra insurance, defeating Kamalov 6-3 and 6-1. No. 41 Rousson took down Dragar in two 6-3 sets while No. 16 Borlee rounded out the day with a 7-5, 6-0 win on court three against Lucas Hoyos.
