ST. AUGUSTINE — Natalie Herrin scored a team high 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Flagler College lost 60-46 to Middle Georgia State University in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game this evening at Flagler Gymnasium.
The Saints fell to 9-13 overall and 4-10 in the PBC. Middle Georgia won its third game in a row and improved to 14-6 overall and 8-6 in PBC. The Knights won both games in the series this year. Flagler will travel this Saturday to take on the University of South Carolina Aiken at 1:30 p.m.
Middle Georgia, in its first year in the Peach Belt, used a 23-3 run that started at the end of the third quarter and ended midway through the fourth quarter. A Cali Levine three-pointer sparked the run and cut Flagler's lead to 32-31 with 2:43 left in the third. Mireia Pou sank a pair of free throws with 2:05 left to give Middle Georgia the lead (33-32) it would not relinquish. Levine's fast-break layup with 5:10 left in the game gave the Knights a 51-36 lead.
Jessica Dowdy came off the bench to provide 11 points on 3-of-4 from the field and 2-of-3 from the 3-point line.
Dennaye Hinds scored eight points and had three steals.
Middle Georgia was led by Kennedi Hawkins who totaled 16 points and 12 rebounds shooting 7-of-11 from the field. Kristen Foglia added 11 points and seven rebounds while Pou tacked on 10 points and six assists.
