INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – No. 3 (ITA Collegiate Division II rankings) Flagler College rolled to a 4-1 win over No. 6 Washburn University in a non-conference men's tennis match Sunday morning in a third-place match of the ITA Division II National Men's Team Indoor Championship at Farmer's Bank Fieldhouse.
Flagler leaves the tournament with a 4-1 while Washburn dropped to 3-2. The Saints will take on Lynn University on Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Pollard Tennis Center.
The Saints won the doubles point after posting wins at Nos. 1 and 3.
Ilian Borlee and
Oliver Hradilek defeated Yuto Miyagawa and Yoshinobu Nakatsuji 6-3 at No. 3.
Simon Malis and
Noah Paterson clinched the team point with a 7-6(3) win over Kilian Martinez and Pavlos Parson at No. 1 doubles.
Borlee, ranked No. 29 in singles, swept Tommy Cecchetti 6-4 and 6-2 to lock up the first singles point. Malis, ranked No. 27 followed with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Parson.
Raphael Rousson ended the match when he knocked off No. 36 Benjamin Fock 2-6, 6-4, and 6-3.
