Daughton pours in 27 points in loss at Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Tariq Daughton scored 16 of his season high 27 points in the first half in Flagler College's 91-74 loss to Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Finis Horne Arena.

Flagler dropped to 15-9 overall and 9-7 in the Peach Belt. Lander has won eight of its last nine games and improved to 17-5 overall and 12-3 in conference play. The Saints host the University of South Carolina Beaufort this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Flagler Gym.

The Bearcats were nearly perfect from the floor in the first half making 72.7 percent (16-22) of their shots from the field and they made 7-of-8 from three-point range. Lander finished the game making 60.9 percent if its shots.

Lander used the hot shooting in the first half to open the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back. They took a 54-37 lead into the half.

Daughton sank 13-of-14 free throws and made 5-of-10 from the field, including 4-for-6 from three-point range. His 13 made free throws were the third-most made in the program's NCAA Division II era. Rahdir Hicks added 11 points while Aidan Harris finished with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Dylan Canoville led five Bearcats in double-figure scoring with 22 points and he added nine rebounds to go along with three steals. Antewan Webber, Jr. and Greyson Pritzl each added 11 points. Tommy Moore and Navaughn Maise scored 10 points apiece.
