No. 13 Saints wins first tourney of the year

ST. AUGUSTINE – The No. 13-ranked (SCOREBOARD Division II ranking) Flagler College women's golf team topped the 16-team field at the 14th annual World Golf Invitational with a 19-over par 883 (292-292-299). The tournament wrapped up today at the World Golf Village's Slammer & Squire Course (par 72; 6,132 yards).

Up next for Flagler is the Lady Moc Classic Feb. 23-24 at the Grasslands Golf & Country Club in Lakeland, Florida.

The Saints had three golfers finish in the top 10. Tabitha Hanely finished in sixth place with a 2-over 218 (73-71-74). Henriette Stranda and Sofia Terzoli tied for 10th place with a 6-over 222.

Trailing Flagler in second place was No. 12 Nova Southeastern University. The Sharks shot a 28-over 892 (298-293-301). No. 18 Lander University finished in third place with a 30-over 894 (298-304-292). No. 17 University of Tampa and No. 10 Florida Southern College followed in fourth and fifth places, respectively. Eleven of the 16 teams that competed were ranked in the top 25.

Kajsa Lindqvist of Lander and Justine Bayle of Tampa finished in a tie for medalist honors. The topped the 90-woman field with an even par 216. On the fourth playoff hole, Lindqvist made a birdie putt to win the playoff. There was a three-way tie for third place at 1-over.

Flagler's Addison King finished in a tie for 16th place with an 8-over 224 (75-73-76). Victoria Veator carded an 11-over 227 (78-75-74) to finish in a tie for 25th place. Halahn Lee, playing as an individual, shot a 20-over 236.
