ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College's
Mason Manning tied his career high of 19 points in a 77-73 overtime win over No. 6 (NABC Division II Top 25) University of North Georgia in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler extended its winning streak to three games and improved to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the Peach Belt. The Saints won their second game in a row in the series against the Nighthawks. North Georgia dropped to overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Saints head to Bluffton, South Carolina where they will face USC Beaufort on Wednesday.
Flagler trailed 72-68 with 2:38 left in the first overtime after an AJ White layup. A
Tymoteusz Pszczola pull-up jumper and two made free throws by Manning tied the score at 72. Later, with 41 seconds left, Pszczola sank two free throws to put the Saints ahead 74-73.
Manning added four rebounds, four steals, and three assists to his line.
Rahdir Hicks scored a season-best 17 points as Pszczola contributed 14 points and six rebounds for Flagler.
Hoku Fisher tied his career high with 10 rebounds.
Flagler out-rebounded UNG 43-34 and had 13 offensive boards that led to 16 second chance points.
Colin Turner led all scorers with 25 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field. White added 20 points and dished out six assists. AJ Baskerville finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
NOTE: The last time Flagler beat a team ranked No. 6 in the nation or better was Jan. 21, 2023 when the Saints defeated No. 6 Augusta University, on the road, 89-75. The last top-six program to lose at Flagler Gym was No. 3 Augusta, Jan. 5, 2011, 76-70 in overtime.
