ST. AUGUSTINE –
Mason Manning scored a team high 15 points while
Rahdir Hicks added 13 more to help Flagler College defeat Augusta University 72-66 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gym.
Flagler improved to 12-7 overall and 6-5 in the Peach Belt. The two teams split the two-game series this year. Augusta dropped to 9-12 overall and 4-7 in conference play. The Saints head to Americus, Georgia on Wednesday to face Georgia Southwestern State University Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Saints used a 13-2 spurt early in the second half to wipe out a 36-all tie and never trailed the again.
Boom Reeves ignited the run with a layup with 15:29 left in the game.
The Jaguars trimmed the deficit to four (54-50) after a three-pointer by Elias Palsson. That was as close as Augusta would get the rest of the way.
Tymoteusz Pszczola added nine points and five rebounds while
Melvin Teal chipped in with nine points for Flagler.
The Saints forced 11 Jaguar turnovers and cashed those in for 15 points.
Evan Joyner led all scorers with 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field for Augusta. Luis Nonfon recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Palsson finished with 12 points while Kyndon Wilburg contributed 11 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
