BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Flagler College women's lacrosse program was picked as the unanimous favorite to win the Gulf South Conference for the fourth year in a row, according to the league's preseason coaches' poll that was released this afternoon. Flagler had six players on the preseason all-conference team.
Flagler received all the possible first place votes (5) for 25 points. Lander University and The University of Alabama in Huntsville tied for second with 19 points. Alabama-Huntsville received the other first place vote as coaches cannot vote for their own team. Lee University and the University of Montevallo tied for fourth place with 11 points while Virginia State University (5) round out the field.
The Saints posted a 13-6 overall record with a perfect 4-0 league mark. Flagler won the conference's regular and postseason title for the third consecutive season and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Jenn Seebach, a graduate defender, was a first-team USA Lacrosse All-American and a second-team IWLCA All-American. She earned first-team IWLCA All-Region and first-team all-conference honors. The Manorville, New York native collected 37 ground balls and had 23 caused turnovers.
Molly Sloan, a senior defender, earned second-team IWLCA All-South Region honors and was a first-team all-conference selection. The West Friendship, Maryland native collected 29 ground balls and had nine caused turnovers.
Ella Pinder, a senior midfielder, was a USA Lacrosse honorable mention All-American and a first-team IWLCA All-South Region pick. The Millington, Maryland native took home first-team all-conference honors after scoring 32 goals, tallying 10 assists, and collecting 56 ground balls.
Carley Tepel, a senior attacker, was an honorable mention USA Lacrosse All-American and a second-team IWLCA All-South Region pick. The Hollywood, Maryland native received first-team all-conference honors after scoring a team-high 57 goals and tallying 12 assists.
Jessica Wright, a senior midfielder, was a first-team all-conference selection. The Queenstown, Maryland native scored 36 goals and tallied 23 assists.
Greta McGinnis took home first-team all-conference honors last year. The Phoenix, Arizona native had 37 draw controls.
The Saints also had three players on the GSC Newcomers to Watch list, Kayla Wehberg, Kylie Budke and Maya Elwood.
