MORROW, Ga. –
Tariq Daughton scored 17 of his team-high 19 points in the second half to power Flagler College to a 77-72 triumph over Clayton State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at The Loch and Mason Barfield Court.
Flagler improved to 11-7 overall and evened its record to 5-5 in the Peach Belt. The Saints won their 13
th game in a row over the Lakers. Clayton State dropped to 2-16 overall and 1-9 in conference play. Flagler hosts Augusta University this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Flagler Gym.
The Saints held a 39-37 lead at the break and finally got some breathing room with under seven minutes to play in the game. A quick 8-0 spurt that covered less than two minutes gave Flagler its largest lead (69-56).
Tymoteusz Pszczola made back-to-back baskets in the run, with the last one coming at 4:56.
The Lakers trimmed the deficit down to four points but could not close the gap.
Daughton made 7-of-10 from the field and grabbed six rebounds.
Rahdir Hicks added 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists while Pszczola tacked on 12 points.
Hoku Fisher finished with eight points, four rebounds, and five assists.
The Saints dominated in the paint outscoring the Lakers 40-24.
DJ Wright led five Lakers in double figures with a game-high 20 points. Andre Young notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists. Jojo Bell added 11 points and nine rebounds. Eddie Page and Joe Thomas each scored 10 points.
