Clare Sheedy had a career night as the Flagler College defeat Francis Marion University 3-1 (27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22) this evening in a non-conference volleyball match at the Smith University Center.
This win improved the Saints overall record to 5-9 while the Patriots dropped to 6-7. The Saints will stay on the road and take on Peach Belt Conference opponent, University of South Carolina Aiken tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Three Saints posted double-digit kills during the win. For the second time in her career, Middlebrooks had 20 or more kills in a match, setting a new career high with 23. She also earned another double-double with 16 digs.
Gracie Fleming had the highest hitting percentage of the match at .522 with 15 kills and three errors on 23 swings. In blocks, Fleming and
Meredith Dixon had a match high five. Bloom earned her first double-double of the season on 12 kills to go along with a career high 20 digs. Sheedy had a career and match high 59 assists. This is the fifth time in her career she has had 50 or more assists in one match.
The Saints were all over the court as five players had 15 or more digs.
Caity Clancy tied for second on the team with 16 while
Amelia Fitzpatrick had 15.
Madilyn Gartner was the face of the Patriots offense with 23 kills. Gartner was one dig shy of a double-double. Allison Miller led the Patriots in digs with 17. Registering a double-double, Aubrey Johnson had a team high 43 assists while finding 10 digs. McKayla Stockwell found a piece in five of the Patriots eight blocks.
