WINGATE, N.C. - The Flagler College women's cross country team wrapped up their trip to the Bulldog Stampede Saturday morning, hosted by Wingate University, with a fifth place finish led by
Marie Meyer-Piton.
The 6000 meter raced featured 100 runners across 13 teams. Southeast region powerhouses such as No. 28 Catawba College, Anderson University, and Wingate were in the field. Among other notable teams were Fayetteville State University, Lincoln Memorial University, and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
The 2025 freshman class continued their exposure on the course as they made up five of the six runners representing the Saints. In her collegiate debut, Meyer-Piton placed 20th with a time of 23:40.95.
Sophie May finished on her heels, placing 21st in 23:42.36.
Margot O'Brien and
Sophia Poling also finished in pairs. O'Brien crossed the line in 23:45.30 earning her 24th place while Poling ran a 23:47.38, putting her in 25th.
The Saints will compete again next week at the FSU XC Invitational on Friday, Sep. 26 at Florida State University.
