Saints win their eighth consecutive PBC title

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Flagler College women's cross country team claimed their eighth consecutive Peach Belt Conference title this morning. With this win, the Saints broke the PBC record of consecutive conference wins and its was the program's ninth overall.

For the eighth year in a row, head coach Brian Beil takes home the Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year award.

For the first time in her career, Chloe Smith is the individual champion and is now the fourth straight Saint to win the championship. Smith finished her 5k in a time of 18:42.9.

Battling Smith to the finish line was Abby Misch who narrowly placed second in 18:43.6. This is her best finish in her career as a Saint. Misch was also named to the PBC All-Sportsmanship team.

After the first two finishers, Flagler occupied fifth to tenth place. Clemence Treguer had her highest finish as a Saint at the championship, placing fifth in 19:00.9. Sophia Poling ran her first collegiate 5k and finished in sixth place in 19:02.6. Zoie Marchant also set a new career high placement finish with her seventh place, 19:09.6 finish. Marie Meyer-Piton was the second freshman to finish for the Saints, placing eighth in 19:11.2. The final Saint to earn points for the team was Sophie May who finished on the heels of Meyer-Piton, in 19:11.5.

Kinga Borowska was the last Saints to crack the top 10 with her 19:16.2 finish. The Saints stacked the PBC All-Conference Team, occupying nine of the 15 spots. Belicia O'Grady was the last Saint to be named to the team, placing 13th in 19:27.6.

The Saints will select seven runners to compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by Wingate University on Nov. 8.
