BOCA RATON, Fla. –
Paige Churchill scored the lone goal of the match, in the 76
th minute, as Flagler College edged Lynn University 1-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday evening at Bobby Campbell Stadium.
Flagler improved to 2-1-1 this season while Lynn dropped to 1-2-2. The Saints lead the all-time series 4-3-2 and have won the last three matches in a row. Flagler visits Middle Georgia State University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Peach Belt Conference opener.
Churchill had the chance to give the Saints the lead with a penalty kick in the 74
th minute, but the shot was saved. Nearly two minutes later, she cut inside from the left side of the penalty area and knocked in
Bella Faherty's pass with her right foot and placed the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal.
Carrie Consolino led the Saints with five shots and Churchill added four more. Brisa Sastre led the Fighting Knights with two shots.
Henley Grunst turned in a clean sheet with one save. It was her ninth shutout of her career. Emma Brunelli recorded 13 saves for Lynn.
The Saints out-shot the Fighting Knights 22-6 and held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Lynn was caught with nine fouls and Flagler committed eight infractions.
