INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The No. 8-ranked (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College women's tennis team was selected as the fifth seed in the NCAA Division II Round of 16 earlier this week.

At the conclusion of the preliminary round matches last week, the NCAA re-seeded the remaining 16 teams. In the first round of the bracket, the Saints will face off against 12th seeded, University of Charleston (W.Va.) at 8 a.m. The NCAA National Championship is held in Altamonte Springs, Florida at Sanlando Park and will kick off on May 21 and conclude with the finals match on May 25.

The top five seeds going into the tournament are Barry University at No. 1, No. 2 Nova Southeastern University, No. 3 Midwestern State University and the University of North Georgia at No. 4. On the Saints side of the bracket, the winner of the Flagler-Charleston match will go on to face the winner of the match between North Georgia and 13th seed Queens College (N.Y.).

Earlier this season, the Saints and Golden Eagles met in St. Augustine. The match concluded with the Saints winning 5-2. During the match, the Saints swept doubles to earn the first point, and won the first four singles matches. Currently the Golden Eagles are ranked No. 41 in the nation and since their last meeting, are on a 14-match win streak and are 21-4 overall. Against ranked opponents they are 1-1 since the match in February.
