ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - For the third time this season, the No. 15 (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College women's tennis team pulled off a sweep, defeating Lincoln Memorial University 7-0 this morning at the Pollard Tennis Center.
The Saints improved to 8-7. Moving to 9-8 overall, the Railsplitters dropped their fourth straight. The Saints will travel to Augusta University for their next match on April 4 at 10 a.m.
In doubles, the Saints took courts one and three to earn the point.
Sofia Balsera and
Leah Waechter swept Rosalie Carrier-Dulac and Lucie Palud 6-0 to be the first match finished.
Elena Ondobo and
Marie Fairier sealed the point with their 7-6 win over Adriana Pellizzari and Natalia Reimer.
Singles was led by No. 9-ranked Ondobo on court two. The sophomore earned the first win for the Saints, defeating Reimer 6-1 and 6-2. No. 13
Eryka Kruk followed close behind, defeating Pellizzari 6-0 and 6-4.
Ornella Lomenzo sealed the win for the Saints in her 6-1 and 6-4 victory over Laura Nastrini. Finishing the remaining matches,
Lea Jakic defeated Alexandra Ortiz Peras 6-2 and 6-4. Balsera defeated Carrier-Dulac 7-5 and 6-4 while Fairier defeated Mia Luna Rodriguez 3-6, 6-3 and 1-0(10-8).
