Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

No. 2 Saints stay hot in conference play

ST. AUGUSTINE - No. 2 ranked (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College defeated No. 23 Columbus State University 5-2 in a Peach Belt Conference men's tennis match this afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.

The Saints keep their conference record perfect, moving to 4-0 and 14-2 overall. Columbus State fell below .500 to a 8-9 record and a 1-1 in league play. Flagler will return to the court on Saturday against Lynn University.

In doubles, the Saints only found one win, courtesy of Makary Adamek and Filip Kana who handily defeated Camilo Cano and Samer Al Tori, 6-1.

The comeback began from Kana against Benedek Szombathelyi. Staying undefeated on the day, Kana defeated the Cougar 6-2 and 6-3. Adamek put the Saints in the lead and they never looked back. Against Elias Peter, Adamek took both sets 6-4 to go up 2-1. Ilian Borlee earned his win against Andrea Sandrone, in two 6-4 sets as well. To seal the match, Simon Malis put away Cano in a tight 6-4 and 7-6(2) match. The final win of the day was from Aly El Rafie in three sets. Taking set one 6-1 against Yike Liu, El Rafie put the match away in a 6-3 third set.
