No. 4 Saints claim the PBC regular season title

ST. AUGUSTINE - For the second consecutive season, the No. 4-ranked (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College men's tennis team clinched the Peach Belt Conference regular season title after defeating No. 35 Augusta University, 7-0 this afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center. 

Capping the conference season off undefeated, the Saints moved to 5-0 and 16-2 overall. Flagler won its third regular season title in the last four years. The Saints extended its conference match win streak to 14. The Jaguars suffered their fourth conference loss of the season, dropping to 0-4 and 12-7 overall. With one more regular season match to go, the Saints will host Palm Beach Atlantic University for their annual "Senior Night" on April 19, at 1 p.m.

Playing to clinch in doubles, No. 40 Ilian Borlee and Simon Malis had their match go unfinished after they were tied 5-5 against Enzo Garutti and Alexis Bailhache. Baptiste Mercier and Aly El Rafie gave the Saints their first win after defeating Enzo Sakiyama and Humberto Pinto 6-3. To clinch the doubles point, Makary Adamek and Filip Kana defeated Artur Valette and David Perret 6-3.

Following up right after his doubles win, Kana gave the Saints their first singles win of the day, taking down Sakiyama 6-3 and 6-0. No. 37 Mercier took down Bailhache 6-2 and 6-4 to put the Saints up 3-0. To seal the Saints win, No. 27 Malis defeated Garutti 6-4 and 6-3. Borlee took his two sets 6-3 to win against Valette, followed by El Rafie's 6-3 and 6-4 match against Pinto. The last win of the day came from Adamek who defeated Perret 7-5 and 6-4.
