ST. AUGUSTINE - The No. 11 (IWLCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College women's lacrosse team defeated Gulf South Conference opponent, University of Montevallo, 16-5 yesterday afternoon at the Flagler Lacrosse Field. With this win, the Saints locked up the No. 1 seed for the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
The Saints improved to 3-0 in conference and 10-5 overall. The Falcons are still awaiting their first conference win, as they are now 0-3, and 5-9 overall. Flagler will finish off its regular season next week, at home against Lee University on April 18 at 12 pm.
Spreading the wealth, the match had 11 different players score a goal. Leading the charge in goals was a two-way tie between
Barbara Tucker and
Carley Tepel, with three goals.
The match opened up with a four-goal run by the Saints, all in the first quarter. The Saints started their longest run of the day, seven goals, at the end of the first through the end of the second. The offense was led by Tepel who scored two goals in the midst of the run.
Jessica Wright aided to Flagler's campaign with two assists and one goal during the run. Maddie Van Den Bosche scored her first career goal at the end of the first quarter.
Flagler had a smothering defense, only allowing one shot on goal in both the first and fourth quarter and eight shots on goal for the entire game. The Falcons turned the ball over 18 times, eight of which were caused.
Jenn Seebach was the forefront of the defense, causing four turnovers and picking up two groundballs. Carly LeFerriere had an all-around day, causing two turnovers and leading the team in groundballs with four. LeFerriere also led the team in draw controls with three.
All three senior goalies saw action, with
Grace Schwab recording the most saves, with two. Starting keeper Lauren Ribadeneria had one save herself.
After regulation, the Saints honored their 17 graduating seniors. The majority of the graduating class were the founding players of the program. All 17 Saints recognized were

Madison Ward,
Ally Miller,
Eva Stine,
Kenzie Dillon,
Kaelyn Figueras,
Caroline Daziel,
Kaleigh Bruss,
Somer White,
Amy Waters,
Lily DeSimone,
Grace Schwab,
Kailey Bawcombe,
Sadie Davis and
Jordan Kennedy. The graduating class saw the program become the Gulf South Conference regular season champions three times and crowned the Gufl South Conference Tournament champions twice.
