MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. –
Destiny McClendon and
Sharale McCormick combined to score 35 points in Flagler College's 82-73 loss to Georgia College & State University in a quarterfinal round game of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Wednesday night at the Centennial Center.
Flagler's season comes to an end with a 13-15 overall record. Georgia College improved to 17-12 and will face the University of North Georgia on Saturday at Dahlonega, Georgia.
Carleigh Grimm sank a pair of free throws to give Flagler a 64-63 lead with 6:31 left in the game. Miracle Parker made a short jumper one minute later that gave the Bobcats the lead back at 65-64, and they never trailed again. That basket sparked a 14-2 spurt that covered nearly four minutes.
The game featured five ties and 14 lead changes.
McClendon led the Saints with 18 points while McCormick added 17. McCormick finished with a program-best 1,405 career points.
Marley Smith supplied 13 points and six rebounds coming off the bench.
Abby Smith finished with 10 points.
Se'Lah Reddick grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Ashyia Willis scored a game-high 24 points for the Bobcats. Deshona Gaither added 15 points and seven rebounds. Hannah Cail contributed 12 points and four assists while Parker finished with 11 points. Jada Warren grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Georgia College grabbed 48 rebounds and 20 of those came on the offensive glass. Those 20 offensive rebounds led to 27 second chance points.
