ST. AUGUSTINE - The No. 2 (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College men's tennis team swept Thomas Jefferson University 7-0 this afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Elevating to 9-1, the Saints remain undefeated against non-ranked teams. The Rams are now 5-4 on the season. The Saints host No. 13 University of Nebraska at Kearney on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Doubles was near perfect for Flagler as the Saints won two of their three matches.
Ilian Borlee stayed hot in their second match of the week, defeating Mario Antonio and Filip Slavkovic 6-1. The sealing win was from
Baptiste Mercier and
Aly El Rafie. In their bounce-back match, the pair beat Jules Thibault and Antonio Mateos Melencho, 6-4.
In singles play the Saints cleared the Rams, with Mercier pulling the first win out. Against Antonio, Mercier won 6-0 and 6-1. Malis took down Anthony Moukarzel 6-1 and 6-2, to give the Saints their third point on the day. The clinching win was from Borlee over Thibault, 6-3 and 6-0.
Filip Kana earned his first win of the day against Johary Rabetrano with his 6-1 and 6-2 match. Taking both sets 6-4,
Makary Adamek also won his first set of the day against Mateos Melencho. The final win of the day came from El Rafie versus Enrique Soto Ballester. After taking the first set 6-1, El Rafie had a tie-breaking set two where he came out on top 7-6 (7-5).
