ST. AUGUSTINE - The No. 2-ranked (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College men's tennis team rolled past the University of Mount Olive 6-1 this afternoon in a non-conference match at the Pollard Tennis Center.
With this loss Mount Olive drops to 2-6. Moving up to 7-1 on the season, the Saints host No. 17 Saint Leo University on Friday at 2 p.m.
Doubles started off as usual for the Saints as they clinched the point.
Ilian Borlee and
Simon Malis made short work of Bram Poel and Niklas Gruenefedt in their 6-1 win. The clinching point was from
Baptiste Mercier and
Aly El Rafie as they defeated Joao Matias Sonaglia and Luke Oosthuizen, 6-2.
Makary Adamek and
Filip Kana were up 6-5 on Kristoffer Dalbak and Philip Peter Carstensen before the stoppage.
Adamek and Kana both coasted in their matches for Saints, defeating Hampus Hagglund and Carstensen 6-1 in both sets. Malis and El Rafie also has similar matches to each other. Malis defeated Gruenefedt 6-2 and 6-1, while El Rafie defeated Kody Baker 6-1 and 6-2. The last win for Flagler came from No. 40 Mercier against Dalbak 7-5 and 6-1.
