ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College finished in 14
th place with a 47-over par 623 (315-308) at the World Golf Village Collegiate, which concluded this afternoon at the King & Bear course (par 72; 7,000 yards) at the World Golf Village. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes after rain affected Monday's first two rounds.
Of the 16 teams in the field, 14 were NCAA Division I members.
The University of North Florida finished atop the 16-team field with a 1-over 577 (293-284). The Ospreys won by 25 strokes. Butler University finished in second place with a 26-over 602 (305-297). Bellarmine University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University finished in a tie for third place with a 28-over 604. Purdue University Fort Wayne and the University of Rhode Island tied for fifth place with a 29-over 605.
Three UNF golfers topped the 100-man field. Brett Schell took home medalist honors with an 8-under 136 (70-66). Jason Duff followed in second place with a 1-under 143 (70-73) and Filippo Serra finished in third place with an even par 144 (73-71).
Rocco Randazzo, played as an individual, posted his first top 10 finish. He shot a 2-over 146 (75-71) to finish in a tie for sixth place. Randazzo had five birdies in the two rounds he played.
Nic Eberhard led the team scorers with a 6-over 150 (77-73) and tied for 18
th place.
Gabriele Romani, also playing as an individual, carded an 8-over 152 (75-77) to finish in a tie for 24
th place.
Brian Berta and
Dylan Mason both shot a 14-over 158 and tied for 62
nd place.
Matthew French and
Joel Petersson tied for 69
th place with a 15-over 159.
Lucas Escudero and
Grant Fisher, the other two individuals for Flagler, finished in a tie for 74
th place with a 16-over 160.
Up next for the Saints is the Lander Bearcat Classic, March 3-4, at Greenwood, South Carolina.
