ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College men's golf team shot a 1-over par 289 and is in fourth place after the first round of play at the Peach Belt Conference Championship this afternoon at the King & Bear (par 72; 7,279 yards). The second round begins tomorrow at 7:40 a.m., but the Saints will tee off starting at 8:30 a.m. on the No. 10 hole.

Masen McKain is tied for first place with a 5-under 67. He was 4-under on the front nine as he closed it out with birdies on Nos. 8 and 9. On the back nine, after opening with a bogey on No. 10, he reeled off two more birdies. McKain made par on four of the next six holes.    

No. 7 (SCOREBOARD by clippd ranking) Georgia Southwestern State University leads the field with an 8-under 280. No. 18 USC Beaufort, the defending champion, is six shos back with a 2-under 286. No 10 Columbus State University follows with an even par 288. No. 11 USC Aiken trails Flagler and is in fifth place with a 6-over 294. No. 12 University of North Georgia and Lander University are tied for sixth place with a 7-over 295 and Georgia College & State University rounds out the field with a 21-over 309.  

Sacha Corlouer of Georgia Southwestern is tied with McKain atop the 40-man field. Noah Curdt of Lander and Mitchell McNeill of USC Aiken are tied for third place just two shots back with a 3-under 69.

Flagler's Nic Eberhard is in a tie for 10^th place with a 1-under 71. He leads the field with 28 pars. PJ Herron is tied for 22^nd place with a 3-over 75. Matthew French and Rocco Randazzo are tied for 27 the place with a 4-over 76.
