Jelinek surges in final round to earn medalist honors and No. 5 Saints finish in third place

ST. AUGUSTINE – The No. 5-ranked (SCOREBOARD Division II ranking) Flagler College women's golf team finished in third place with a 41-over par 905 (311-299-295) at the 13th annual World Golf Invitational that ended today at the World Golf Village's The King & The Bear Course (par 72; 6,217 yards).

Stella Jelinek finished at the head of the 87-woman field with a 1-under 215 (72-74-69). She was the only golfer to break par. Her 3-under 69 was the lowest score in the final round and tied for the lowest in the tournament. This was Jelinek's seventh title in her career and second this season. She assaulted the course today with five birdies and had 12 pars.      

No. 25 University of Tampa topped the 16-team field with a 22-over 886 (303-290-293). They finished 17 strokes ahead of No. 17 Rollins College. The Tars finished with a 39-over 903 (302-297-304). No. 9 Lynn University and No. 20 Nova Southeastern University tied for fourth place with a 46-over 910.

Ana Maria Jimenez of Tampa, the leader going into the final round, finished two strokes behind Jelinek with a 1-over 217 (74-69-74). Justine Bayle of Tampa finished in third place with a 3-over 219 (74-72-73) and Henriette Stranda of Flagler carded a 4-over 220 (77-73-70) to finish in fourth place. Mille Thompson of the University of West Florida rounded out the top five with a 5-over 221 (76-74-71).  

Bhoomi Jagtap tied for 46th place with an 18-over 234 (81-75-78). Tabitha Hanely finished in a tie for 52nd place with a 20-over 236 (81-77-78). Shanya Arasu rounded out the team with a 32-over 248 (81-85-82).

Victoria Veator, playing as an individual, shot 33-over 249 (83-84-82).
