WINGATE, N.C. - The Flagler College volleyball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Southeast Regional for the second consecutive season after defeating Carson Newman University 3-1 (15-25, 25-14, 25-13, 25-22) this evening at Cuddy Arena & Thomas Koontz Family Court.
The Saints added onto their now four win streak to improve their record to 22-12, their most wins in one season since 2019. The Eagles fell to 24-6. The Saints will face the regional host, No. 14 Wingate University tomorrow at 7 p.m.
Leading the charge was
Marley Middlebrooks who put up her second consecutive 20 kill match and was one dig away from registering a double-double.
Clare Sheedy was one of two players to notch a double-double as she found 47 assists and 10 digs. Matching Sheedy in digs was
Cassidy Bloom but
Caity Clancy finished off as the team leader, finding 12.
Katherine Rank finished with a .500 hitting percentage with her 13 kills while also posting a tying a match high four blocks.
Gracie Fleming matched Ranks blocks while also earning eight kills.
Blair Cherry ran the Eagles offense and defense with her 31 assist, match high 18 dig double-double. Emerson Ahsmuhs put up a team high 12 kills while Raychel Ehlers found 10. Bella Cardello tied for a match high four blocks.
