TAMPA, Fla. –
Phoebe Carpenter recorded her fourth consecutive shutout and extended her scoreless streak to 346 minutes and five seconds in Flagler College's 1-0 win over the University of Tampa in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday evening at Pepin Stadium.
Flagler won its fourth match in a row and finished the regular season with a 9-6-3 overall record. The Saints won their fourth consecutive match in the series against the Spartans and took a 4-3-0 lead all-time. Tampa concluded its regular season with a record of 5-6-4. Flagler opens Peach Belt Conference Tournament play on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Georgia College & State University in a quarterfinal match.
The only goal came in the 18
th minute.
Presley Ancheta bounced a pass to the top of the box to
Paige Churchill. Churchill chested the ball down, tapped the ball with her left foot, shuffled to her right and drilled a shot with her right foot into the bottom left corner of the goal.
Carpenter recorded four saves for the Saints while Lia Doohan collected four saves for the Spartans.
Flagler out-shot Tampa 12-8 as Churchill and
Carrie Consolino led the team with three shots apiece. Kendall Gouner finished with three shots for Tampa. Both teams took four corner kicks, and the Saints held a 9-8 advantage in fouls.
