GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Flagler College volleyball team dropped their first match of the weekend against Lander University, 3-2 (20-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-17, 9-15), this afternoon at Horne Arena.
The Saints closed out their 10 match win streak as they fell to 18-12 overall and 11-3 in conference. The Bearcats moved up to 18-8 on the season and 10-4 overall. The two will wrap up their regular season play tomorrow at 3 p.m.
Marley Middlebrooks and
Cassidy Bloom both recorded double doubles. Tied in team high kills, Middlebrooks and Bloom finished with 12 kills each. In digs, Bloom outpaced her teammate with 13 while Middlebrooks registered 11.
Clare Sheedy finished with a match high 37 assists and was one of three Saints to finish with eight kills.
Katherine Rank and
Gracie Fleming both joined Sheedy with eight kills. Fleming and
Meredith Dixon each registered a team high four total blocks with two of those being solo blocks. Five Saints found double digit digs with
Caity Clancy collecting a team high 18.
Bella Schwantz found 12 and
Amelia Fitzpatrick found 10.
Enisilina Savelio registered a triple double while Katie Miller registered a double double for the Bearcats. With a match high 19 digs and team high 36 assists, Savelio finished with a hitting percentage of .500 on 10 kills. Ensilina also had a piece in three blocks while Karson Browning had a match high five. Miller was the only player in this match to put up 20+ kills as she found 25. To cap off her double double, Miller had 14 digs.
