ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College baseball program welcomed Gainesville, Florida native Finn to its program during a draft ceremony, though Team Impact, at Saints Field before its Oct. 28 scrimmage against Seminole State College.
Finn was just three years old when he had a "wart-like" spot show up on his hand. His pediatrician referred his parents to a dermatologist who initially removed the spot but it grew back twice as big a few weeks later. They were then referred to a surgeon that could remove the core, not thinking it was anything major. Two weeks after that surgery, they went to his follow-up appointment where his parents were told for this first time that this could be cancer but they didn't think it was. His surgeon sent this specimen to a pathologist in San Francisco, California to determine what it was.

While that was being determined, his parents contacted St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. They accepted him as a patient and ultimately gave us the news. Finn had Stage 3c Spitzoid Melanoma. This type of melanoma is not caused by the sun. He completed all of his treatments and multiple skin grafts at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Today Finn is three years cancer-free and is a thriving young boy that loves baseball.
