Terzoli and Hanely top the leaderboard and Flagler is in third place

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Flagler College women's golf team shot a 7-over par 295 and is in third place after one round of the St. Simons Intercollegiate, which started today due to the weather forecast for tomorrow. The teams are playing at the King & Prince Golf Club (par 72; 5,801 yards). The second round will begin tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Flagler's Sofia Terzoli leads the 99-woman field with a 3-under 69, which was her lowest round of her brief collegiate career. She started the day par-par-birdie-par. Terzoli bogeyed the par-5 fifth hole, but got a birdie on the sixth hole to fall back under par. She closed out the front nine with three straight pars. Terzoli opened the back nine with birdie-par-birdie-par before a bogey on the 14th hole. She birdied holes 15 and 18.

Tabitha Hanely is in a three-way tie for second place just two strokes back. She started her round with a pair of bogeys, but made par on the next six of seven holes. Hanely birdied the par-3 seventh hole. She started the back nine at 1-over and with the help of three consecutive birdies improved to 2-under. Hanely made par putts on the next five of six holes.

Wingate University leads the 18-team field with a 2-over 290. The University of West Florida follows in second place at 6-over. Lincoln Memorial University (+13) and Eckerd College (+14) trail Flagler.

Jackie Gonzalez Howard of Wingate and Lauren Patterson of West Florida are the other two golfers tied for second place with Hanely. Amely Bochaton of Wingate and Isabela Urruchua of West Florida are tied for fifth place with an even par 72.

Victoria Veator is tied for 25th place with a 4-over 76. Addison King (+7) and Ida Petersen (+17) round out the team for the Saints. Halahn Lee shot 10-over as an individual.
