ST. AUGUSTINE –
Henry Okenla headed in a corner kick in the 56
th minute as Flagler College played to a 1-all draw against Georgia Southwestern State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Wednesday night at Saints Field.
Flagler is now 8-2-5 overall and 5-1-4 in the Peach Belt. The five ties are a new program record. The previous mark of four was set in 2012 and 2023. Georgia Southwestern moved to 4-6-3 overall and 3-5-2 in league play. Flagler steps out of conference for the last time in the regular season as it hosts Saint Leo University on Saturday at 6 p.m. on "Senior Night" at Saints Field. The Flagler seniors will be honored at 5 p.m.
Alex Alexandrou's corner kick, from the right corner, was lofted into the box where Okenla, who positioned himself in front of the goalkeeper, slightly deflected the ball into the goal off of his head.
Axel-Ambrois Gravel scored the equalizer in the 64
th minute for the Hurricanes.
Dylan Beiermann made his collegiate debut for the Saints and made three saves. Nathan Grady finished with five saves for the Hurricanes.
Flagler out-shot Georgia Southwestern 13-8 and each team had eight corner kicks. The Saints committed 12 fouls while the Hurricanes made eight.
