ST. AUGUSTINE - Flagler College dropped its home opener to No. 18 (AVCA Division II Top 25) University of Central Oklahoma 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-22) to kick-off the Flagler Saints Classic Thursday afternoon at Flagler Gym.
The Saints fell to 2-2 overall while the Bronchos improved to 6-0.
The first set of the contest was back and forth with over 10 lead changes. Central Oklahoma took the set 26-24.
The Bronchos took the second set 25-16 after a six-point run in the middle of the set.
The third set went back and forth as the Saints reeled off a five-point run towards the end of the set to bring it back within one (22-21).
Jordan Berglin led the offense with 10 kills.
Cassidy Bloom and
Colby Stempkowski added eight and seven, respectively, to round out the offensive leaders. Stempkowski tied her season high and Bloom was just shy of hers.
Clare Sheedy tallied a team-high 30 assists.
Lexi Basler, the libero, led the dig effort with 14 while
Amelia Fitzpatrick added nine, good for second most.
Meredith Dixon led the blocking effort with three block assists with Stempkowski right behind her with two.
The Saints will continue the Flagler Saints Classic with a 1 p.m. contest against Trevecca Nazarene University and a 7 p.m. contest against Nova Southeastern University.
