Saints place second at PBC Outdoor Track & Field Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Flagler College men's outdoor track and field team placed second at the Peach Belt Conference Track & Field Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida on Monday and Tuesday. Kaleb Hollins earned Men's Freshman Track Athlete of the Year, Men's Outstanding Track Athlete and Men's Outstanding Track and Field Athlete of the Year. 
 
The Saints collected 140 points. Embry-Riddle took first with 295.5 points and Augusta took third with 132 points. 
 
Kaleb Hollins won the 800m in 1:50.25, setting a new PBC Championships and overall conference record with his time. The previous meet and overall record was 1:50.30 set in 2021. His time beat out his previous NCAA provisional mark time and ranks him 19th in the nation and first in the region. Will Stone finished behind him in the 800m with a second-place time of 1:50.91, which was an improvement on his NCAA provisional mark time as well. He ranks 36th in the nation and second in the region. John Carbone hit an outdoor personal-best time of 1:53.49 which puts him at 11th in the region. Brandon Knieja was the last Saint in the 800m, finishing 20th in the 27-man field with a time of 1:58.30. 
 
Three Saints competed in the 400m finals with Logan Camara finishing second, Houston Harper in fifth and Malik Edwards in eighth. Camara ran a 49.13 in the preliminary race, which was a new personal-best improvement by 0.80 seconds and finished the finals with a 49.15, ranking 19th in the region. Harper shaved half a second off his previous best time to finish at 49.36 which puts him 24th in the region. Edwards hit a new personal-best time in the preliminary round with a 50.21 and finished the finals with a time of 51.10. 
 
Once again, the duo of Hollins (3:51.37) and Stone (3:51.63) took first and second, but this time in the 1500m. Brandon Knieja hit an outdoor best time at 3:53.41 to finish fourth and move to 17th in the regional ranking. 
 
Joel Nesi and Jon Eide improved their times in the 10000m to place second and fourth, respectively. Nesi's time of 30:42.51 ranks him 11th in the region and Eide is behind him in 17th with a time of 31:03.59. 
 
Other major improvements came from Caden Vann in the 110 hurdles, the 4x100 relay team (Vann, Ryan Sen, Malachi South and Sam Adebonojo), the 4x400 relay team (Camara, Harper, Xander Cunningham and South) and Casey Wood in the discus. Vann finished in second with a personal-best 14.81 time, shaving 0.70 seconds off his time and moving to 5th in the regional ranking. The 4x100 relay team finished third with a time of 42.06 and ranks 16th in the region. The 4x400 relay team posted a time of 3:17.65 to finish third and rank 7th in the region. Casey Wood hit a new best in the discus with a throw of 44.58m to earn first place and move to 10th in the regional ranking. 
 
The Saints had athletes also compete in the 100m, 200m, 5000m, 400 hurdles, 3000 steeplechase, long jump, triple jump, shot put and javelin. 
Caden Vann (10.79) and Ryan Sen (10.89) finished third and sixth in the 100m, respectively. Sen also ran in the 200m, finishing sixth with a time of 22.47. Malachi South finished ahead of him in third with a time of 21.90. 
 
Logan Burch, Max Bowlin and Zach Brainerd finished out the 1500m for the Saints. Burch finished in sixth with a time of 3:57.01. Bowlin finished with a time of 4:06.47 to place 17th and Brainerd behind him in 20th with a time of 4:11.76. 
 
Seven Saints competed in the 5000m race with Joel Nesi leading in fourth with a time of 14:43.51. Miquel Fons placed sixth with a personal-best time of 14:55.22. Rounding out the top 10 finishers was Jon Eide in ninth with a time of 14:59.10. Dieumerci Ufitimana (15:42.85) placed 16th, Paul Schedlbauer (15:50.19) in 19th, Ethan Tank (16:08.46) in 20th and Francisco Ramirez (16:22.10) in 22nd. 
 
Bryce Dufrene placed 15th in the 10000m with a personal-best time of 34:35.27. The 110 hurdles also saw Sam Adebonojo compete in the finals with a seventh-place finish and time of 15.86. David Stanley was the only Saint to make it to the 400 hurdles finals and finished eighth with a time of 58.74.
 
Christian Fernandez and Paul Schedlbauer finished back-to-back in the 3000 steeplechase. Fernandez in seventh with a time of 9:54.81 and Schedlbauer in eighth with a new personal-best 9:56.00. 
 
In the field events, Kruz Jimenez, Ian McGrorty and Amonyay Pritchard competed in the long jump. Jimenez earned seventh with a personal-best jump of 6.71m. McGrorty placed 14th with a 6.15m jump and Pritchard in 18th at 5.63m. Jimenez also placed seventh in the triple jump at 13.40m and Edwards earned ninth with a 12.23m jump. Jude Daly improved his marks for a personal best in the shot put and discus throw. He earned seventh in the shot put with a 44'0.5" throw and 12th in discus at 36.38m. In the javelin, Aaron Dolton placed 14th with a 28.46m throw.
