DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Flagler College women's outdoor track and field team competed in the Embry-Riddle Eagles Invite on Saturday for a last chance to improve their marks. The best performance came in the 1500m with six top 10 finishes.
The Saints had 12 runners compete in the 30-athlete field for the 1500m.
Monique Whiteman earned the best finish in second with a personal-best time of 4:36.87, putting her at third in the region.
Abby Misch (4:39.31),
Lea Steinbach (4:41.81) and
Megan Churchill (4:42.39 – PR) finished in third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Steinbach's time ranks her sixth in the conference, 10th in the region and Churchill's put her at eighth, 11th in the region. Rounding out the top 10 finishers were
Clemence Treguer in seventh with a time of 4:46.58 and
Zoie Marchant in ninth with a personal-best 4:47.84 that puts her in the top 25 of the region, sitting at 24th.
Four other Saints entered the top 10 in the conference standings for their events.
Natalie Dempsey competed in the 400m for the first time this outdoor season, placing fifth with a time of 1:03.59 that squeezes her in at 10th in the conference.
Aaliyah Jordan also raced for the first time in her event this outdoor season, finishing in second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:09.65. Her time ranks her sixth in the conference. Two Saints improved in their events to push them into the top 10 with
Zoe Zinnie in the 100 hurdles and
Makinzie Luhrsen in the discus throw. Zinnie finished seventh with a time of 17.56 that brings her to 10th in the conference where she was previously not in the top 10. Luhrsen's personal-best throw of 32.16m landed her third place in the meet and seventh in the conference ranking.
Madison Miller ran in both the 100m and 200m with a personal-best coming in the 200m. She placed eighth in the 100m with a time of 13.00. Her personal-best time of 27.43 in the 200m also earned her an eighth-place finish.
Meredith Czajkowski was behind her in 11th place in the 200m with a time of 28.01. Czajkowski also ran in the 400m with Isabella Salce who earned a personal-best time. Czajkowski finished in seventh with a time of 1:04.87 and Salce in ninth with her time of 1:06.55.
Zoe Zinnie ran in the 800m for the first time in her career, finishing with a time of 3:24.91. The rest of the 1500m included finishes from
Hope Siner,
Mattie Culver,
Marissa Kempf,
Jessica Gates,
Kiki Wine and
Isabella Sibbrell. Siner placed 11th with a time of 4:51.83 (PR), Culver (4:56.54 - PR) in 14th, Kempf (4:57.72) in 15th, Gates (5:07.13) in 18th, Wine (5:13.33) in 21st and Sibbrell (5:23.80) in 26th.
The 5000m saw four Saints compete with
Mallory Robinson placing fourth with a personal-best time of 19:11.86.
Riley Carter was behind her in ninth with a time of 20:50.35 and
Vivian Brezler in 10th with a time of 20:56.52.
Alexa Kulis ran in the 5000m for her first time and finished 12th with a time of 22:07.28.
In the field events, Zinnie placed third with a 1.42m (4' 7.75") jump in the high jump. Czajkowski placed third in the long jump with a personal-best 4.95m jump. Luhrsen earned a first-place finish in the shot put with a 9.61m mark and seventh in the javelin with a 21.31m throw.
The Saints will compete in the Peach Belt Conference Championship on April 29-30 in Daytona Beach, Fla. at the ERAU Track Complex.
