COLUMBUS, Ga. –No. 11 (Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II Top 25) Flagler College squeaked by No. 15 Columbus State University 4-3 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Saturday afternoon at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
Flagler improved to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the Peach Belt. Columbus State had its four-match winning streak snapped and dropped to 11-6 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Flagler heads to Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday to face No. 2 Nova Southeastern University.
The match came down to No. 6 singles.
Toni Pfeiffer, who was riding a nine-match winning streak, was taking on Yelena Labat. Labat took the first set 7-5, but Pfeifer won the second set 6-4. She continued to be strong in the third set winning 6-2 to give the Saints their fourth consecutive victory over the Lady Cougars.
The day didn't start well for Flagler as Columbus State won two of the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.

Charlotta Buss each won their matches in straight sets to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. But Columbus State won at Nos. 2 and 4 to regain the lead, 3-2.
Nadja Meier, ranked No. 2 in the country, defeated Mariana Ramirez 6-4, 4-6, and 6-2 to tie the match at 3-all.
